HELP Is Needed for our Neighbors in Southern Indiana who were Devastated by the Tornado - Please get in touch with your local American Legion Post as they have been contacted by Dewayne Dunn the assistant department Adjutant for the American Legion. They are asking all of the American Legion Posts to help gather needed items for the tornado victims in southern Indiana. You can bring any of the following items into your American Legion Post and they will organize a way to get them down to department. The department will be making some trips down south to ensure the donated items get to where they are needed the most.

The items that are needed at this time are bottled water, diapers, clothing, and any other non perishable items. They also lost most of their schools and are in need of school supplies such as paper, pens, pencils, backpacks, and the like.

If you can help contribute any of these items it would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot get to your American Legion then by all means you may bring them to the Fishers American Legion Post 470 at 9091 126th St in Fishers, In. Thanks again for your help and support.

HVAF Feed Our Heroes Food Drive - The HVAF food pantry is sparse. As the number of returning veterans count on HVAF for support, we need your assistance. Please help re-stock our shelves during Operation Feed Our Heroes Food Drive. Beginning March 15 through April 15, 2012, HVAF will be collecting canned meat for our veterans. We'll be working in partnership with St. Joseph Neighborhood Association. More than 200 previously homeless veterans (HVAF clients) will also be collecting food to be able to feed their fellow veterans.

You can contact HVAF at 317-951-0688 to arrange a convenient time for you to drop off your donation. We can also pick up your larger donation. HVAF is located at 964 N. Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis 46204. We're right on the corner of 10th and Penn.

Honor Flight - Our 2011 Honor Flight with the AMVETS Post 99 was Sept 15 and we had 144 Veterans on the flight to Washington DC. It is an awesome time as we show our WWII and terminally ill Veterans their Memorials. If you know of any WWII Veterans or terminally ill Veterans from Korean or Vietnam Wars who could make the flight in September 2012, please get them to fill out the Veteran Form and mail it to Wayne Long - address is on the back page of the form. Also, if you or anyone you know would like to be a volunteer guardian to help us transport our Heroes, please fill out the Guardian Form and send it to Wayne also.

Crownland Cemetery of Noblesville - We are reconditioning and adding to the Hamilton County Veterans Memorial and we NEED YOU HELP!! We will place 2 new Memorial Stones one on each side of the present Memorial. The current Memorial was dedicated in 1953 with the names of the Fallen from Hamilton County during WW2 and since Korea & Vietnam Fallen have been added. The 2 new Stones will list the names of our Fallen from WWI and the Persian Gulf War. We need about $6,000.00 to make this happen and our target date to Re-Dedicate this Memorial is of course Memorial Day 2012. Please send your donation to HCV P.O. Box 503 Noblesville, In. 46061. You will be glad you did. If you or your business would like to sponsor tis project please contact Ron Wilson at president@hamiltoncountyveterans.com

WWII Veteran Stories - WWII Veterans are needed for taped interviews with the The Hamilton County Historical Society & the HCV. We are seeking World War II Veterans and spouses who are willing to sit down with a Hamilton County Veteran and the Historical Society to answer question about their times and lives before, during and after the World War II. These conversations will be a written and oral History of Hamilton County, preserved so that generations to come will understand the life, times and hardships our Veterans and their Families faced during this era.

A copy of your interview will also be made available to the WWII Veteran so they may pass it on through the generations of their families so they too may share in the way it was back then.

If you are willing to share your experiences from this period of our History with future generations, Email us your name & number so that we may contact you... president@hamiltoncountyveterans.com. Or if you know of any WWII Veterans that would be willing to sit down with us... Help us find them so their story may be recorded & became a part of the Written & Oral History of Hamilton County. This just might be one of the most important projects we will take part in as a Veteran Organization.

Thank you so much for your consideration,

Vernon Young   Hamilton County Historical Society

The Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial for Enduring Freedom needs all of Indiana's help so that we may Never Forget, and to keep our Fallen Heroes Memories alive. This Memorial was started by an Ol' Vietnam Vet who wanted to make sure we Never Forgot and when he passed, God rest his sole, his family has continued in his footsteps to keep our Fallen Heroes memories alive. This site has been dedicated to our Indiana Gold Star Mothers and we need all of our Indiana residents and businesses to pitch in and make a donation so that this Memorial will stand forever. So please, spread the word about this beautiful Memorial and ask everyone to go to the Memorial in Westfield and to go online to www.fallenhoosiers.com and make an annual or monthly donation so we may maintain and update  this beautiful Memorial. It is a 501C3 Tax Deductible Organization, ID #27-0255570....please!
